frequently asked questions
What happens after I fill out the online form?
Once you’ve filled out our online child care request form one of our fantastic service directors contacts you to confirm. Once child care is confirmed and program plan is in place, we provide you with a comprehensive outline for your events activity plan.
What is the minimum or maximum amount of hours I can book child care for?
There is a minimum of three hours for all child care bookings. There is no maximum, child care can be provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What’s the difference between Improv Care’s child care professionals and a babysitter or nanny?
Our child care professionals have diplomas or degrees in child related fields such as: Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Counselling, Teaching and Paediatric Nursing. Our child care providers go through an extensive interview and orientation process and have their background and references thoroughly checked. All of our child care providers have a Vulnerable Persons police check, as well as infant and toddler First Aid and CPR certificates and all are members in good standing with their professional associations.
We feel so confident and comfortable with the child care professional that we’d like to stay out later, is this okay?
Our child care providers understand that you’d like to stay out. As a courtesy we ask that you phone and speak with the child care professional. You will be billed according to your return time. We bill on the half hour, so if you return fifteen minutes later you will be charged for the full half hour.
Are Improv Cares child care professionals bilingual?
We have bilingual French/English staff. All other language requests are on a case-by-case basis and we try our best to accommodate you.
Is Improv Care insured?
Yes. The certificate is available upon request.
My family is having a reunion and there will be lots of infants and toddlers, how many child care providers will I need?
Improv Care adheres to the Day Nurseries Act and follows its ratios. These ratios would be discussed during the initial contact to ensure the child care professionals have the support needed to attend to all the children.
How far in advance should I book?
Ideally as much notice as possible helps us ensure a child care professional (s) will be available for you. However, we appreciate that this is not always possible and do take last minute bookings. The last minute booking rate will be applied.
What if I need to cancel the booking?
We accept cancellations up to 1 week prior to individual child care or 4 weeks for pre-arranged group care. Although we understand that situations arise, our cancellation policy is strict out of respect to our staff and their scheduling.
Can I arrange for the receipt to be made out to my company address?
Definitely! Just provide us with the necessary billing information you’d like on the receipt and we’d be happy to accommodate you.
Should I tip the child care professional or pay for their cab ride home?
No thank you. Improv Care child care professionals do not accept any gratuities or gifts. If the child care professional stays from midnight on, a late transportation fee of $15.00 will be added to your invoice. This is to insure our child care professional's safety.
